Aftermath So Far

Rain total according to Kyrk's rain gauge as of this morning (it is still raining hard): 8"

One thing that Kyrk mentioned today is the number of deaths that are NOT recorded as being caused by the hurricane that are related to hospital people (doctors and nurses) not being able to get to work. People rely heavily on the tap-taps to get around and there were very few in operation today - many of the Haitian Mission workers did not come to work today because of the tap-taps were not running.

Here is the intersection today (with the lines still down) after we cleared it yesterday:

Here is the vendor's store - you can see the tree stump just behind the store:

Hello! I am Kyrk's sister from California. It is wonderful to read your blog and see what God is doing in Haiti using your hands. Thank you so much for the support and blessing you have all been to my family.

In Him,
Kari Way

P.S. I have stayed in your home before!

Ken and Tina,
Mary Pierznik here - at some point in the next 2 months we should be down there to pick up Richelor. If your family or friends would like us to bring a few things down for you we'd be happy to bring them!

Kari - it's nice to meet you! You have a great family! God is so good and has allow us to be here help in whatever way He desires. I pray that we have and will continue to be a blessing to your family and to the Haitian people.

I was wondering if that was your initials carved into the concrete wall... :-)

Mary - That's great that you guys are so close to bringing Richelor home! Thank you for the offer to bring things! We'll be in touch via email with you as there is most likely some things that we would like to have if you have room (like warmer clothes - it's cool in the mountains and our MN hides are thinning). Say Hi to Bill for us!
